Modular Homes
What is a Colorado manufactured home? Colorado is
the U.S. state renowned for its skiing. A manufactured home is a
type of housing unit construction in which the house is mostly
assembled in a factory. The units are then transported to the site
of the permanent residence and assembled there. This is sometimes
called prefabricated or prefab housing. A Colorado manufactured
house is therefore a prefab house assembled in that state.
Colorado manufactured homes are built according to strict state and
federal guidelines, as are those in the rest of the country. Each
Colorado city has its own zoning and code restrictions. Therefore
each home in Colorado must comply with those codes, even if it is
manufactured in another state.
Such codes and restrictions on manufactured homes are for the
protection and well-being of the neighborhoods and their residents.
As examples, manufactured homes in southern states must meet
hurricane codes, while those on the West Coast must comply with
earthquake codes. A building permit cannot be obtained unless these
codes are met, regardless of whether the structure is a Colorado
manufactured home or one of traditional construction.
When buying a manufactured home in Colorado, you must consider the
size of the land you purchase. This will be your manufactured home's
permanent location. The plot must be large enough to contain the
manufactured home you wish to build. It must also be large enough to
accommodate any setbacks or easements specified by Colorado building
codes. There may also be codes related to roof strength and snow
bearing weight that should be addressed with the manufactured home
vendor.
A manufactured home will be very warm and energy efficient. This is
especially important in a cold climate such as Colorado. Although
summers can be as warm as almost any other state, Colorado mountain
winters can be fierce to newcomers. Choose an excellent view for
your land, pick a warm and cozy floor plan, comply with all the
codes, and your Colorado manufactured home will be your personal
Swiss chalet.
